IS MY VEHICLE INSURED ?
Yes, your vehicle will be insured against in-transit damage caused by carrier negligence or equipment failure by the auto shipping or car transport truck that we assign. These auto shipping and car transport trucks, by law, carry a minimum of $750,000 public liability insurance.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE ?
Transit time depends on where your vehicle is shipping from and to. All pickup times, transport times, and dates quoted are simply averages. Each load is different depending on the individual auto shipping and car transport truck's schedule.
ABR will make its best attempt to accommodate your needs. If the exact date you request is unavailable, ABR will work within a 1-7 day time frame of your request. We will not guarantee a delivery date. Vehicles being moved are placed into the most efficient routing schedule by our dispatch department. When booking your move with ABR, you will be provided with an estimated transit time that your shipment will take, in order that you may plan ahead.
DO I HAVE TO BE PRESENT WHEN YOU PICK UP OR DELIVERY MY VEHICLE ?
Yes, we require you, or a designated person, be present upon pick up of your vehicle. A contract "bill of lading" will be signed with you at the origination point. If you are not able to be there, please call our office prior to the pick up date, to confirm an alternate "in care of" person
CAN I LEAVE ITEMS IN THE TRUNK OR INSIDE THE CAR ?
Carriers do not authorize personal belongings in the car. There are several reasons. These items are not insured, it is against the law for carrier to carry anything except your vehicle and all trucks have weight limitations they must comply with. Under no circumstances can the car contain firearms, hazardous materials, illegal substances, or contraband. In preparing your vehicle, leave only a quarter tank of gas in the vehicle and deactivate anti-theft devices.
WILL MY VEHICLE BE DRIVEN ?
The auto shipping driver will drive your car on and off the car transport, and may have to unload and re-load your car occasionally during transport to optimize space on the trailer. This unloading / reloading is kept to a minimum. Your car should not be driven otherwise, and odometer readings should be noted at pickup and delivery. Discrepancies should be noted on the delivery receipt and signed off by the driver.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN OPEN TRAILER AND AN ENCLOSED TRAILER ?
An open trailer is exposed to the elements whereas an enclosed trailer has a covered freight area. Open trailers are usually used more often than enclosed carriers. The main reason is the price since enclosed trailers are significantly more expensive. Enclosed trailers are used for classic or exotic cars.
HOW DO I PREPARE MY VEHICLE ?
Please have a minimal amount of fuel in your tank. A quarter tank or less is sufficient. You must remove any loose parts. For example, shells or bed liners that are not bolted down may blow off. Phone, radio, and CB antennas that do not retract, MUST be removed, or they may get broken. If you are shipping your vehicle to Alaska, or Hawaii, you will be charged an additional de-gassing fee if your vehicle has more than a quarter tank of gas.
HOW DO I PAY ?
VISA, Master Card, American Express, Wire Transfer ,Discover, electronic transfer, personal checks, money orders, or company checks will be accepted for deposit or full prepayment. As for balance due, the auto shipping and car transport company's carrier will accept cash, cashiers check, postal money order, or official bank check ONLY. If you need to use a credit card upon delivery, call us and we will try to help anyway we can.
WHEN WILL MY PAYMENT BE POSTED TO MY CREDIT CARD ?
Your credit card will not be charged until a carrier has been scheduled to pick up your vehicle.
HOW DO I CHECK ON THE STATUS OF MY ORDER ?
Call our dispatcher at the number we provide to you once your order is processed. We will track your order and give you an update as soon as possible.
WHAT IS A BILL OF LADING AND CONDITION REPORT ?
The Bill of Lading (or Freight Bill) is the contract of transport between you, the shipper and the Carrier. The report provides pick-up and delivery information, current mileage, and the condition of the car. If you are not available to release the vehicle, you may designate someone to act as your agent. After both you and the driver have signed the Bill of Lading, you should receive a copy of the report. The same document is presented at time of delivery of the vehicle.
